For most residential customers, cable networks provide an alternative to DSL or sometimes even fibre networks for broadband internet access.

In several European markets, cable networks have an important position on the market. In some cases this has led regulators to consider imposing remedies on cable operators.

Our research shows that four European countries have regulated wholesale access to cable networks, either as the result of a market analysis or as part of merger commitments.
