US Big Tech firms have been the recipients of some of the largest fines ever imposed by competition authorities in Europe.
The European Commission issued the highest antitrust penalties, fining Google over €8bn and Microsoft over €2bn in total.
In 2024, Apple and Meta also received their first EU antitrust fines, to the tune of €1.8bn and €800m, respectively.
The French and Italian national competition authorities have levied substantial penalties of their own on Amazon, Apple and Google.
